Mandriva 2007 Released for download
Kim Schulz, wednesday d. 4. october 2006
Mandriva (previously Mandrake) Linux has been my favorite desktop distirbution for years. I have actually been using it on a daily basis since version 5.3 or so.
Today I am happy to announce the newest release of the distribution - version 2007.
So why am I announcing this now? it was announced by the folks over at Mandriva about a week ago? Whats special is that now you are actually able to download the distribution for free from their homepage which is you can find at: http://www.mandriva.com/en/download.
So whats new?
- Easy setup of 3D desktop with AIGLX or Xgl
- A beautiful new theme called Ia Ora
- Better multimedia optimizations
- Easier installation and uninstallation with urpmi, rpmdake and Smart.
- Gnome 2.16 (I love this one).
- Tons of optimizations under the hood.
All in all a great new version that might not offer the greatest new additions, but simply offers the best of usability and stability in the same distrubution.
So go fetch and enjoy.
